Camilla Parker Bowles has been accused of sending a note as a 'power move' to Princess Diana before her wedding to Prince Charles.

The Duchess of Cornwall made a ‘power move’ by sending the Princess of Wales a handwritten note in acknowledgment of her engagement to Prince Charles, according to a contributor in CNN’s new series, Diana.

"Camilla Parker Bowles left Diana a note saying: 'Such exciting news. Love to see the engagement ring,'” said writer and broadcaster Bidisha Mamata.

“That's like a real mafia thug move. That's so Mean Girls it's unbelievable. That's a power move right there."

It's no secret that Charles had a long history with Camilla prior to meeting Diana, having first met her at a polo match in 1970 at Great Windsor Park. The two instantly hit it off and quickly embarked on an impassioned romance, but became estranged after Charles left to serve in the Royal Navy in 1971. During his deployment, Camilla married Andrew Parker Bowles and the star-crossed lovers were forced to abandon any hope of a real relationship.

Prince Charles went on to meet Diana in 1977 when he was dating her older sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale. The two announced their engagement on February 24, 1981, and married in a lavish royal ceremony at Westminster Abbey the following July.

Fans of The Crown Season Four know all too well that the high-profile wedding was anything but a fairytale. The Princess of Wales was well aware of Charles' intense feelings for Camilla, having reportedly learned of them early on in their courtship.

It’s even been said that Diana boldly confronted Camilla about her relationship with her husband and requested her to end the affair—which reportedly unfolded at Charles' private residence of Highgrove House in Gloucester.

After separating from the Prince of Wales in 1992, Diana spoke openly about the infidelity that plagued their marriage.

"There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded," she revealed during her infamous BBC interview with Martin Bashir in 1995.

“In Diana’s own words, she told me any marriage Prince Charles might have made could never be as strong as the relationship he had with Camilla," former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said during the series.

“And that’s what she was battling with from the outset.”
