Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes presented This Morning on a Sunday for the first time ever yesterday. But it wasn’t this new weekend episode that caused the most surpise among viewers over the weekend.
No, fans were in fact left flabbergasted by host Ruth's tea-making.
Eamonn and Ruth were joined by MasterChef’s John Torode who shared with viewers how to make the ultimate Sunday roast, and a selection of the week's highlights were also shown.
There was then a segment which saw Ruth making a morning cup of tea, and her technique has caused a large debate on social media, with some fans left mockingly horrified that she pours the milk in first!
One viewer said, ‘Never milk first! Ugh’ while another was jokingly outraged by Ruth's move saying, ‘You put the milk in after!! Milk in first just isn't right!!'
In fact, even Davina McCall disagreed with Ruth's method, commenting, 'Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo' on social media!
While some viewers were adamant Ruth was making her cup of tea incorrectly, with one saying, 'This is just so wrong...... always tea first 🤦🏼♀️' - others sided with the 58 year-old.
One fan said, ‘I’m with Ruth always milk first , you can then make the tea exactly how weak or strong you like it #perfectcuppa.’
Another agreed writing ‘Same as Ruthie!’
But there may be room for both techniques, as one viewer shared some top tea-making wisdom. They said, ‘If you're having tea made in a pot its milk in the cup then the ready brewed tea from the pot, if you're making the tea in the cup it's teabag, water then milk!’
So there you go, each to their own! But it's clear from the debate that we Brits take tea-making very seriously...
It was the first time in history that This Morning has aired on a Sunday in all of its 30 years on TV. But it won't be on forever, as the Sunday version of the popular magazine show will be shown for only the next ten weeks.
