Definitive Proof That J K Rowling Is Absolutely Brilliant

J.K Rowling has continued to prove that she wins at Twitter, getting into a war of words with Piers Morgan over the weekend, following his appearance on a US talk show. During the show, Piers was caught up in a debate with comedian Jim Jefferies, who challenged him for defending President Trump's recent travel ruling - which many are referring to as a 'Muslim Ban'. The heated discussion resulted in Jim telling the outspoken broadcaster to "F*** off" a number of times with the video going viral shortly after.

Sharing her glee at the exchange she tweeted that it was "exactly as satisfying as she imagined"

Responding directly to the tweet, Piers retorted that she was the reason why "I've never read a single word of Harry Potter."

J.K Rowling responded asking if he had had "a premonition that one day the author would roar with laughter at seeing you called out for your bulls*** on live TV?"

The exchange continued for some time, with fellow users jumping to the authors defence, pointing out that Piers had previously quoted Harry Potter a number of times in the past, despite supposedly never having read it. Other users bombarded the presenter with Harry Potter quotes.

Having the last word, J.K Rowling finished the exchange brilliantly saying "If only you'd read Harry Potter, you'd know the downside of sucking up to the biggest bully in school is getting burned alive."

This is not the first time J.K Rowling has been embroiled in a Twitter row over Trump and his policies. The author has been sharing her dismay at the President's new travel ban by retweeting people condemning the action, which angered a number of her fans prompting some followers to send messages threatening to boycott her books. One user said that they were going to burn their Harry Potter books in protest of her views, to which the quick witted author replied "I have your money. By all means borrow my lighter". Ouch!

Another user went on to claim she had no right getting involved in politics to which she retorted "In Free Countries Anyone Can Talk About Politics".

Despite previously claiming that she's 'done' with Harry Potter, it seems that JK Rowling can't keep away from the franchise. Writing three collections of short stories set in the wizarding world, which were released last September.

And who can blame the author for wanting to do more, when the success keeps coming? It was recently announced that J.K Rowling is more successful than Shakespeare himself. Her latest book 'Harry Potter And The Cursed Child' is the most-sold play ever beating the likes of Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Hamlet. The book made a massive 8.8 million in the first week of sale. Way to go J.K Rowling!

1. She's never been afraid to stand up for her beliefs - and has previous experience of opposing Donald Trump and his policies. In a tweet, Rowling responded to the news that Trump had reinstated the abortion gag rule, saying that very rarely had the directive stopped abortions - but rather, had made them more dangerous.

2. JK Rowling recently spoke out against a "bunch of racists" who criticised the casting of Olivier-winning actress Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger in the forthcoming play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

"With my experience of social media, I thought that idiots were going to idiot," she said in an interview with the Observer. "But what can you say? That's the way the world is. Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job."

"I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white' - that is, lost colour from her face after a shock - that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with. But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm."

Rowling has pointed out that there is no reason why Hermione should be white. Neither her race nor skin colour are not mentioned in the books. Back in December last year, it was announced that Dumezweni would play Hermione, to which JK Rowling tweeted:

3. Even as one of the world's best-selling writers, JK Rowling knows all about rejection. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was rejected 12 times (!) before being accepted by Bloomsbury. Now THAT is persistence.

6. She became the first billionaire author, but knocked herself off the Forbes list by donating huge sums of money to charity.

"New information about Rowlings' estimated $160 million in charitable giving combined with Britain's high tax rates bumped the 'Harry Potter' scribe from our list this year," stated Forbes in 2012.

7. Back in 2004, after reading an article in The Sunday Times about children being kept in caged beds in institutions, Rowling wanted to address the issue and founded Lumos, a charity that helps disadvantaged children in institutions and orphanages worldwide.

9. She is undoubtedly one of the world's best Tweeters. In May last year, the author was visiting Ireland, and (elated over the vote in favour of Irish marriage equality, she tweeted: "Sitting here watching the Irish make history. Extraordinary and wonderful."

Back in 1999, Rowling wrote Natalie McDonald, a 9-year-old with leukemia, into the book of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire after a family friend of McDonald sent a letter to the author expressing the dying girl's love of all things Potter. The girl is the only real-life muggle to ever make a cameo in the Harry Potter series.
