Adele may be known as the queen of turning personal heartache into bestselling ballads, but it looks like she might be finding a new source of inspiration for her future album.
The Grammy award-winning artist will not be writing music about her ex-husband, as part of an agreement in their recently finalized divorce settlement. According to a source close to Adele, the decision to keep Simon Konecki, to whom she was married for three years, off all upcoming tracks was made as a ‘show of respect’.
The couple’s main priority throughout the divorce process was the wellbeing of their eight-year-old son Angelo.
“They’re both aware their son Angelo should be protected and that’s why Adele has agreed not to sing about their relationship,” the source explained.
The agreement reportedly hasn’t been too much of a hassle for the British singer, whose fourth studio album is scheduled for release in 2021.
“Her new album will have a different sound anyway, so it hasn’t bothered her too much that Simon quietly expected her to keep their relationship out of her music,” the source added.
While divorce is never easy, Adele and Simon have remained amicable throughout the separation. With the help of mediators, they have managed to negotiate the terms of their divorce in a civil manner.

While Adele is obviously more financially successful, holding a fortune of around a whopping $120 million, Simon isn’t exactly broke. As the CEO of charity Drop4Drop, the former investment banker has a net worth of approximately $2 million.
The couple hopes to remain on good terms in the future, for the sake of their co-parenting relationship and their son. The separation has obviously been challenging for the family, but fortunately was not fuelled by any specific wrongdoings.
“Their relationship evolved and they became more like friends than lovers,” a source close to the couple told US Weekly when the separation was announced. “They realized the romantic love was no longer there. They’re disappointed, but it just didn’t work out.”
