Duchess of Sussex stuns at US Open with casual high street denim dress

Duchess of Sussex travelled to the US to support her friend Serena Williams, and looked as sophisticated as always.
- Duchess Meghan looked very chic, wearing a casual denim dress from a high street brand.
- She reportedly flew over late last week, so she could cheer her good friend Serena on.
- This follows royal news (opens in new tab) that the Duchess of Cambridge also wore an affordable high street dress (opens in new tab) when she dropped off Prince George and Princess Charlotte at school on Thursday.
The mum-of-one left her husband Prince Harry and baby Archie for a well-deserved weekend away (opens in new tab), to support her friend at the US Open final.
And while the Duchess of Sussex always looks flawless, we think she nailed the hard-to-achieve transitional look – when it’s no longer warm, and not yet cold.
In a long-sleeve denim dress from J. Crew, with the sleeves rolled up, and a beige cardigan over her shoulders, the 38-year-old looked fabulous.
While the high street dress was actually considerably affordable - costing £132 – it has now sadly sold out (thanks to the Meghan effect!).
However, we found some great alternatives – Boden have a similar long-sleeved version for £85, and Marks & Spencer are also selling this Denim Shirt Midi Dress, designed by Holly Willoughby, for £49.50.
Holly says: “This denim dress is so versatile. Try yours with a simple ankle boot for a classic look that will see you through season after season.”
Reports about Duchess Meghan’s surprise trip emerged on Friday, when The Time reported that she made a last-minute decision to fly to New York for the weekend.
According to the publication, the royal travelled in a commercial flight on Friday morning, and is understood to have travelled without her team but security.
