Have you discovered the Turkish Riviera yet?

Promotional feature with Jet2holidays Home to the Turquoise Coast, Turkey has more than 300 days of sunshine a year and so much to offer every holidaymaker

Turkey is  becoming the go-to destination of 2018. When it comes to the perfect place to escape, it ticks all the boxes with its crystal clear waters, soft sandy beaches, fascinating historical sites and mouthwatering cuisine. Who wouldn’t want to go?

Explore the Dalaman region

If you want something out for the ordinary, you couldn’t get more exciting than the Dalaman coast. The region’s mountainous coastline is the perfect place to enjoy a thrilling 4×4 safari tour, or fly high on a parasailing adventure over Marmaris. Adrenaline-seekers can try a white water-rafting adventure or, for a more sedate option, take a gulet trip and discover undisturbed pebble coves and bays that are only accessible by boat.

After all that adventure, you can catch your breath and lay back and relax at the picturesque Ölü Deniz Blue Lagoon and Butterfly Valley which is regularly named as one of the top ten beaches of the world. Or stroll and swim at Patara, the longest and prettiest beach in the Mediterranean, where even in peak season you’ll be able to find a secluded spot.

Visit the Bodrum peninsula

Beaches as far as the eye can see, an abundance of restaurants and bars, Bodrum has it all; its bazaar is one of the biggest in Turkey with visitors from the neighbouring islands of Kos and Kalymnos (just a boat trip away). From designer labels to beautiful hand-crafted ceramics, get ready to pick-up some wonderful bargains and be ready to barter – it’s expected and part of the fun.

Not to be missed is a trip to the jaw-dropping Pamukkale Thermal Spa, the unusual aquamarine pools formed in limestone are breathtaking to see. Or, closer to home, a boat trip to Cleopatra’s favourite beauty spot, Black Island, where the thermal springs and mud pools will leave your skin silky soft.

A holiday to Turkey wouldn’t be complete without enjoying a flavour-filled mezze platter in the beautiful harbour of Akyarlar – an abundance of small plates brimming with fresh fish, vegetables, cheeses and meats. Wash it down with a glass of refreshing Turkish wine or sweet Turkish coffee.

Don’t miss the Antalya area

A history lover’s favourite – you’ll be blown away by iconic town of Myra, where you can see the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, gaze at the Lycian tombs cut into the rocks, and marvel at the Church of St Nicholas, which dates back to the 6th century AD. Or how about walking in the footsteps of Alexander the Great, taking in ancient rock caves and tombs.

Feeling active? The Troy Aquapark is a winner for the whole family, as is Land of Legends, a stunning theme park in Belek. Take a cable car through the Olympos Bey Mountain Coast National Park to see the region’s unspoilt beauty, looking out out for wildlife including eagles and bobcats.

Now relax! Tee off at one of Belek and Side’s world-famous golf courses or pose on Turkey’s glitziest sands, Lara Beach.
