  • 2tbsp olive oil
  • 1tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 red chilli, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 350g (12oz) raw king prawns
  • ½tsp paprika


  • Heat the oil and butter in a small frying pan on a medium heat, then add the garlic and chilli and heat for 1 minute – it should be gently sizzling. Add the prawns and fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until cooked through.

  • Remove from the heat, stir through the paprika and season. Serve immediately.

Top Tip for making Pil Pil Prawns

If you want to make up a tapas board, you could add these extra dishes: jarred, roasted red peppers; and triangular slices of Manchego cheese – so easy!
