Kate Middleton follows an adorable tradition for her son Prince George

Kate Middleton will be having a late night tonight in order to uphold a sweet royal tradition with her eldest son Prince George.
- The Prince is celebrating his 8th birthday on Thursday 22nd July.
- The Duchess of Cambridge always stays up late the night before her children’s birthdays for a special reason.
- In other royal news, is Prince Harry set to repeat one of Princess Diana's biggest regrets?
In 2019, Prince William and Duchess Catherine appeared on baking legend Mary Berry’s festive show, A Berry Royal Christmas.
And it was during the program, Kate revealed that she regularly makes cakes for special occasions, including her children’s birthdays.
"I love making the cake," said Kate as she spoke about her children’s birthdays. "It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are aged 7, 6 and 3 respectively, Prince George will celebrate his 8th birthday on 22nd July 2021.
This means that tonight, while all of their children are sleeping, Kate will be whipping up a storm in the kitchen.
Kate's baking tradition has also extended to her children who delighted in making her a very special cake for mother's day this year.

Aside from baking, Kate and William have various other birthday traditions that they maintain for their children—and one, in particular, is a bit of a pain for the royal couple!
Prince William's godmother, Julia Samuel, who was a close friend of the late Princess Diana, revealed that she enjoys giving William and Kate's children noisy presents that drive the royal couple up the wall.
She said in an interview with Hello, Julia revealed, "I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making."
"William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that."
Julia also revealed that she knows Princess Diana would have loved to meet her grandchildren.
Speaking about Prince George, Julia said, "He's funny and feisty and cheeky and God she [Diana] would have loved him so much."
