Prince William and Kate Middleton's Scottish home is perfect for family holidays - but does this detail cause squabbles between George, Charlotte and Louis?

They might have to make a difficult choice about sleeping arrangements whenever they stay over at Tam-Na-Ghar Cottage

The Royal Family famously spend time at Balmoral during the summer but the Prince and Princess of Wales don't have to sleep over there if they don't want to. The couple actually have their own home on the estate - Tam-Na-Ghar Cottage - which is believed to have been given to Prince William by the Queen Mother in 2002.

Nestled amongst the gorgeous landscape, it's totally private which is perfect for when they visit Scotland with the children. However, one thing I've never really thought about before is the size.

William and Kate's cottage reportedly has three bedrooms, which means that Prince George, Charlotte and Louis could have a tough choice to make. One of them is going to have to share a room when they're on holiday - the question is, who?

This biography paints a portrait of the future Queen, charting her life from her upbringing to the present day. It includes startling new details from inside sources and details Kate’s fight to repair William and Harry’s rift and her bravery after being diagnosed with cancer.

Perhaps 13-year-old Prince George gets to have his own bedroom when they're staying at Tam-Na-Ghar, as he's now a teenager and might want a bit of space away from his energetic younger siblings. It's also possible that since they've been going since before he was born he gets a room of his own because it's always been that way.

Princess Charlotte and Louis have a lot in common and this might make for a smoother sharing experience too. Both love dancing and Prince William said on the Apple Fitness+ Time to Walk podcast in 2021 that Louis used to follow Charlotte around and copy her.

"Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything," he shared. "She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing. It's a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around, and, and singing."

Prince Louis has also been "perfecting" his handstands, according to Kate, though the youngster said at the Commonwealth Games that Charlotte tells him he's "no good". Even though their hobbies are similar, the Prince and Princess of Wales might think it's their only daughter Charlotte who deserves her own space most.

When he was on Heart Breakfast in May, William jokingly told Charlotte and Louis, "Make sure you're not fighting over who's listening to what this morning". So it seems they do squabble and we know the Prince and Princess have implemented a taking turns policy for choosing music.

Maybe they could do the same with who shares and who gets a room to themselves at Tam-Na-Ghar Cottage. For all we know, the kids could even end up *wanting* to share with one of their siblings and find it fun whilst they're on holiday.

Prince William, Kate, George, Charlotte and Louis all regularly go up to Scotland at some point during the summer and there's no reason to think they won't this year. Balmoral means a lot to the Royal Family and Prince William has shared his childhood memories of going there.

"My childhood was full of holidays having fun in the fresh air, swimming in lochs, family barbecues with my grandfather in command, and yes the odd midge," he declared in 2021, later adding, "George, Charlotte and Louis already know how dear Scotland is to both [him and Kate] and they are starting to build their own happy memories here too."
