The Queen's sweet reaction to special photographs in first appearance since Harry and Meghan bombshell interview

Queen Elizabeth II joined a virtual science showcase for British Science Week, where she had a sweet reaction to photographs from the surface of Mars. 

• The showcase included NASA's Perseverance rover and some fascinating photos it had taken on Mars.
• This is the Queen's first public appearance since Harry and Meghan's bombshell Oprah interview, which aired in the UK on Monday.

The Queen has made her first public appearance since Harry and Meghan's Oprah interview, on a video call to honour British Science Week. Her Majesty was joined by space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Professor Caroline Smith from the Natural History Museum, the Learning Team at the Science Museum and schoolchildren from Thomas Jones Primary. 

Upon seeing the photographs of Mars, Queen Elizabeth sweetly exclaimed, "It’s unbelievable really to think one can actually see the surface!"

While a third said, 'The Queen is so graceful and inspiring figure. One of the most amazing women who ever walked on this Earth.'

We last saw the Queen at St George's Hall in Windsor Castle, taking part in a broadcast to commemorate Commonwealth Day, in which she spoke about the importance of "unity". 

Addressing the public, she said, "Whilst experiences of the last year have been different across the Commonwealth, stirring examples of courage, commitment and selfless dedication have been demonstrated in every Commonwealth nation and territory, notably by those working on the frontline who have been delivering healthcare and other public services in their communities.

"We have also taken encouragement from remarkable advances in developing new vaccines and treatments ... The testing times experience by so many have led to a deeper appreciation of the mutual support and spiritual sustenance we enjoy being connected to others."
