The Crown bosses release Prince Philip statement following his death
The Crown bosses have addressed the death of Prince Philip in a heartfelt message

The Crown bosses have expressed their sympathies to the Royal Family in response to the news that Prince Philip has died aged 99.
The makers of the hit Netflix series released the following statement to pay their respects to the late Duke of Edinburgh: "Netflix, Left Bank Pictures, Sony Pictures Television and the production team on The Crown are deeply saddened to hear of the death of The Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.”
Prince Philip was portrayed by Matt Smith in the first two seasons of The Crown, before his character was recast as Tobias Menzies for the third and fourth season.
The tribute has emerged amidst a flood of other condolences on social media, as several celebrities take to Twitter to react to the upsetting news. The prince died at Windsor Castle today, after battling illness for the past several months.

Piers Morgan posted a somber message to his 7.9m followers, calling it a 'very sad day for our country' and thanking the Duke of Edinburgh for his dedication to 'selfless public duty.' The former ITV host has long been outspoken about his royalist beliefs, staunchly defending the Royal Family after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's withdrawal from their roles as senior royals last year.
Phillip Schofield also took to social media to share his reaction. The This Morning presenter posted a snap of him meeting Prince Philip on his Instagram story, captioning the sweet photo, 'Farewell to a remarkable man, terrifying to attempt to interview but great fun to be with.'
Prime Minister Boris Johnson released a statement on Prince Philip's death at No. 10 Downing Street. Speaking to reporters, he called on Britain to direct their sympathies to the Queen and the Royal Family.
