The Queen has a firm ally in someone unexpected; Californian rapper Snoop Dogg. Speaking about a time in which Her Majesty came to Snoop Dogg’s rescue, he explained that the Queen is his 'gal.'

  • Snoop Dogg has explained that the Queen once came to his rescue, after he faced intense media scrutiny in the UK following murder charges
  • In 1993, Snoop was arrested and charged with the first degree murder of a man in Los Angeles, however, the charge was later dropped in 1996

Considering this is the year of her Platinum Jubilee, celebrating Her Majesty serving for a historic 70 years and being a “symbol of stability”, it’s not surprising she has picked up many an adoring fan over the years.

However, the latest celebrity fan to come out and praise the Queen might come as a bit of a shock—Snoop Dogg.

The legendary rap icon has recalled the time the Queen intercepted to stop him being thrown out of the UK back in the 1990s.

During a recent interview with a DJ stateside, Snoop recalled difficulties he faced in the 90s.

As his fame took off, his rapidly rising star power was threatened by first degree murder charges (which were later dropped).

At the time, Snoop was in the UK touring and promoting his album—something the UK media vocally protested.

He spoke about a UK newspaper story that ran a cover story about him in 1994, which was headlined, “Kick this evil bastard out.”

In it, the unnamed paper urged lawmakers to kick Snoop out of the UK.

Snoop explains, “Guess who came to my defence? Just take a guess.”

“The Queen.”

“The Queen said, ‘This man has done nothing in our country. He can come.’ The queen… bow down… When the Queen speaks, bow down. That’s Harry and William’s grandmother, you dig?” he added.

“You think they [Harry and William] weren’t there, saying, ‘Grandma, please let him in, grandma. He’s OK. We love his music..’ The Queen, that’s my gal.”

Can we expect a surprise performance from Snoop Dogg for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations?
