The Duke of Cambridge reveals his secret lockdown hobby - and we're all doing it!

Prince William has opened up about developing a love of baking during lockdown.

The Duke of Cambridge has confessed he's concerned about his "waistline" after developing an unhealthy obsession with baking during lockdown.

Prince William, 37, made the admission during his first in-person royal engagement in three months when he visited the King's Lynn Ambulance Station at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a socially distanced catch-up on Tuesday.

William - who had his temperature checked upon arrival - said, "I'm worried about the waistline of the nation as well with all the chocolate and cakes. I've done a lot of baking at home. Chocolate goes down very well."

The future King discussed more than just his love of chocolate during the royal engagement and took the time to thank East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) ambulance staff for their ongoing efforts in responding to the covid-19 pandemic and some of the "sacrifices" being made.

It is no surprise William has turned to baking as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are no doubt doing all they can to keep Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, entertained - as lockdown restrictions mean they are spending all their time at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

Despite some schools and nurseries re-opening in recent weeks - including reception, which Charlotte is in - it is thought the Cambridge's are planning to keep her off school for a while longer.

Princess Charlotte and Prince George are both pupils at Thomas's Battersea and it is thought Prince William and Duchess Catherine could continue to homeschool her until prince George - who is in Year 2 - can return to school too.

Prince William and Catherine may be the future King and Queen, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t struggled with homeschooling the children like everyone else in lockdown.

Opening up about the experience, Catherine said, “Don’t tell the children, we’ve actually kept it going through the holidays.

“I feel very mean! (laughs). The children have got such stamina I don’t know how.”
