The royal family Instagram page has shared a sweet video of Prince Edward speaking about his father and the legacy that he has left behind.
In the video, the Prince stated, "I think it's very important that we keep a lot of the prizes and the trophies that he named, we will keep those going. I think that will be really important, I think he was such a larger-than-life character and I think that people will want to continue to do that- which is great."
The youngest of Queen Elizabeth's children then went on to talk about one of his father's most famous achievements—the Duke of Edinburgh award. The award is available to any young person in the UK and the different awards encourage children to get to grips with map reading, hiking, and outdoor adventures.
The Prince stated about this famous award scheme, "As far as the Duke of Edinburgh award is concerned, yes it's very much alive and well and I think it's got a very important future. I think there are an awful lot of young people who need those sorts of activities, those out-of-classroom activities as it does stand them in very good stead and in some cases, it determines what their future is going to be."

The post to this sweet video was captioned, "The Earl of Wessex talks about the future of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which was set up by his father in 1956."
The post then went on to explain the significance of the award as it stated, "The Award provides a framework for young people between the ages of 14-24 to challenge themselves in a wide variety of active interests outside the classroom."
The post also revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh award is still as popular in the UK, 65 years after the scheme began. The post read, "Since the Award was launched, millions have been helped to build their confidence and independence. Right now, more than 40,000 young people in the UK and over a million globally are working towards an Award."
Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, plays a major role in continuing the legacy of this prestigious award. The post revealed, "The Earl plays an active role in the DofE as Chairman of the Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh International Award, and Trustee of DofE UK."
Prince Edward also mentioned on Prince Philip's 100th birthday that Meghan and Harry's rift with the Royal Family had been 'difficult,' as the royal family took time to remember the late patriarch of their family.
