That's a bit harsh!

Prince Charles' swipe was a cheeky one aimed at son William over an important role he was given, after his harsh words were recently unearthed.

The Prince of Wales took a jab at his eldest son when he was made president of the FA and implied that his son wasn't worthy of the job.

In the unearthed interview with TV Presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly to commemorate the Trust's 30th anniversary, Charles took a sneaky swipe at William.

William and dad Charles appeared together for the show and as the group talked about football, and the Duke of Cambridge admitted he was enjoying his new role as FA Presidency. He said: "Yeah, it's a great job - loads of free tickets."

But Charles was quick to add, "They must be very desperate to have him."

His sense of humour was appreciated by Ant and Dec, as they, along with Charles' youngest son Prince Harry, gave a roar of laughter.

But Prince William proved he can take a joke and replied, "Well, exactly."

And continued, "But no, it's a real privilege to be the President of the FA."

The princes are known to have had lots of banter with their father over the years. Back in October, Prince William, 38, admitted his father's passion for the environment had not always been in vogue - with 71-year-old Prince Charles even saying himself his ideas had seemed "dotty" in the past.

Speaking alongside Sir David Attenborough on BBC Radio 4, Prince William joked, "I regularly wonder what my father’s banging on about. I’m sure every son thinks the same."
