Meghan Markle's Spotify podcast, Archetypes, will explore how women have historically been held back
Meghan Markle’s Spotify podcast has finally been announced, and it promises to explore “the labels that try to hold women back”

The launch of her podcast, titled Archetypes, will come almost two years after she and Prince Harry launched their joint podcast, Archewell Audio, on Spotify after signing a multi-year and multi-million-dollar deal.
- Meghan Markle has confirmed her new podcast with Spotify will launch this summer, and that it will be called Archetypes.
- Archetypes will feature "uncensored conversations" with historians, experts, and women "who know all too well" about how typecasts, labels and stereotypes can influence and change narratives about women.
- In other royal news, the sweet hobby that cemented the close relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
Harry and Meghan teased plenty of exciting projects after they stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and one such plan was a series of Spotify podcasts. Now, almost two years after they launched their joint podcast, Archewell Audio, Meghan is returning with Archetypes.
Spotify and the Sussexes' production company, Archewell Audio, announced on Thursday (March 24) that a show hosted by the duchess would investigate the labels and stereotypes "that try to hold women back."
As previously announced, the podcast will be launching in the summer and will feature "uncensored conversations" with historians, experts, and women "who know all too well" about how labels and preconceived images can influence and change narratives.
Fans of Meghan were even treated to a teaser of what to expect, with Spotify releasing a short clip of the Duchess in her podcasting prime.
"This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls and how the media reflects women back to us … but where do these stereotypes come from? And how do they keep showing up and defining our lives?" Meghan says in the clip.
"This is Archetypes, the podcast where we dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back. I'll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives. And I'll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place."
Explaining their long delay between launching their first podcast and delivering new content, a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed that the couple paused their plans following backlash involving some of Spotify’s more controversial podcasts and shows.
Podcasters like Joe Rogan were accused of spreading Covid misinformation. Confirming that this led to conversations between the company and the Sussexes, their rep said Spotify will include proposals for new "policies, practices, and strategies meant to raise creator awareness, minimize the spread of misinformation, and support transparency.”
The rep added, "we are encouraged by ongoing conversations we've had with Spotify on this shared goal and have been working closely with their team—as well as their senior leadership."
