Kate Middleton expressed her regret over her Christmas outfit at Sandringham two years ago, a royal fan has revealed.

The Duchess of Cambridge may be one of the Royal Family's most-loved fashion icons, but that doesn't mean she never slips up with her wardrobe.

Kate Middleton shared her regret over her Christmas Day outfit two years ago, admitting to a royal fan at the scene that she was feeling uncomfortable in her wintery ensemble.

The Duchess radiated elegant coziness at the St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham on 25th December 2019, stepping out of the festive service in a faux-fur, grey Catherine Walker coat. The 39-year-old teamed the customized garment with a green Sylvia Fletcher hat, sheer tights, green suede block heels, and of course, that signature Kate Middleton bouncy hair

Unfortunately, while she looked fabulous, the mom-of-three wasn't exactly feeling it. The heavy attire—paired with the surprisingly mild temperatures—left Kate a little snugger than she'd hoped for.

It wasn't long before she found herself noticeably overheated—and probably desperate to flout the Queen's 'rule' to never remove their coat in public. It's long been rumored that female members of the Royal Family are advised against ditching their outerwear at engagements, with the shedding of clothing in front of others reportedly deemed "unladylike".

Speaking to a fan outside the Norfolk church, the Duchess candidly vented her grievances over the heavy outfit—whilst out of earshot from Her Majesty, of course.

“Kate was talking to my daughter about clothes and how she was feeling too hot," Karen Anvil told Metro. "She said 'I really shouldn’t have worn this'."

The excited mother added that the Duchess came across as very sincere, calling the interaction "genuine" and "like speaking to a friend."

With Christmas fast approaching, it looks like time is running out for Kate to select her festive outfit for the big day. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to attend traditional Royal Family celebrations hosted by the Queen at Sandringham Estate this year, for what will be Her Majesty's first Christmas without Prince Philip.
