The special reaction Meghan Markle had to meeting Kate Middleton for the first time

Following her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017, Meghan Markle revealed a sweet detail of the moment she met the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

Having only met Prince Harry the year before, former Suits actress Meghan, who is now known as the Duchess of Sussex, had a whirlwind introduction to royal life.

During their post-engagement interview with BBC’s Mishal Husain, Duchess Meghan recalled how welcoming Catherine had been to her.

Duchess Meghan was also introduced to Prince Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, prior to their engagement.

Describing her first meeting with Her Majesty, Meghan, who now shares one-year-old son Archie with Prince Harry, said, “To be able to meet her through [Harry's] lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me so that when I met her I had such a deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to have that time with her.

“She’s an incredible woman.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot in May 2018 but less than two years later confirmed that they were stepping back from royal life.

Back in January, the couple announced that they were set to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family and become financially independent.

Since then, the globally famous duo have moved across the pond to Los Angeles in order to begin a new life with Archie.
