The 94th Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place this weekend and there is already a lot of excitement about the various films that have been nominated, and the actors who are expected to win.
So who has received a nomination, when are the Oscars taking place, and who is hosting the show? Here is everything you need to know about this year's Academy Awards...
When is the Oscars 2022?
The Oscars 2022 are scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 22, 2022. The show will be broadcasted live from the Academy Award venue, the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood.
The live show will be televised on ABC at 8pm ET, 5pm PT. For UK viewers this will be at 1am.
Who is hosting the Oscars 2022?
It was announced that the 2022 Academy Awards will be hosted by comedic actresses Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes.
Executives behind this decision are delighted and have explained why they asked the three comedians to team up. "This year’s show is all about uniting movie lovers. It’s apropos that we’ve lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles,” said show producer, Will Packer. "I know the fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will be having will translate to our audience as well. Many surprises in store! Expect the unexpected!"

“We want people to get ready to have a good time. It’s been a while,” said the three comedians in a shared statement.
This is the first time that three women will co-host the award show. Previous celebrities that have hosted this prestigious awards ceremony include, Jimmy Kimmel, Chris Rock, Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen DeGeneres, Seth MacFarlane, Anne Hathaway, and James Franco.

Best Actress Nominees for the Oscars 2022
The nominees for the 94th Academy Awards were announced on February 8, 2022, and there was immediate controversy as incredible stars such as Meryl Streep and Lady Gaga failed to receive nominations despite their critically acclaimed performances in their respective films.
This year was a particularly competitive year for the Best Actress award and many fabulous actresses have been nominated for this prestigious award.
Jessica Chastain received a nomination for her performance as the controversial televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker in the 2021 film The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
Olivia Colman was nominated for her performance as Leda Caruso in psychological drama and directorial debut for Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Lost Daughter.
Penelope Cruz was nominated for her performance as Janis Martínez Moreno in the Spanish drama film Parallel Mothers
Nicole Kidman was nominated for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in the film Being the Ricardos, and Kristen Stewart was also nominated for her portrayal of Princess Diana in the film Spencer.
Best Actor Nominees for the Oscars 2022
A variety of fantastic actors were nominated for the Best Actor Award this year. Alongside his female counterpart Nicole Kidman being nominated for Best Actress, Javier Bardem was nominated for Best Actor for his performance as Ricky Ricardo in the film Being the Ricardos.
Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated for his performance as Phil Burbank in the psychological drama The Power of the Dog.
Andrew Garfield also received a nomination for his performance as real-life playwright Jonathan Larson in the Netflix film Tick, Tick...Boom!
Will Smith was also nominated for his performance in King Richard. The film explores how Richard Williams coached tennis legends Serena and Venus from the moment they were born until they became tennis legends.
Denzel Washington was also nominated for his performance as Lord Macbeth in the film The Tragedy of Macbeth.
Best Director Nominees for the Oscars 2022
Five fantastic directors were nominated for the Best Director Academy Award. Steven Spielberg was nominated for West Side Story, Kenneth Branagh was nominated for his film Belfast, Paul Thomas Anderson was nominated for Licorice Pizza, and Ryusuke Hamaguchi was nominated for Drive My Car.
Among the male nominees for this award, New Zealand director Jane Campion was also nominated for Best Director for her critically acclaimed film, The Power of the Dog.
