John Corbett and Bo Derek have married in a sweet ceremony after 19 years together

John Corbett and Bo Derek married in a stunning ceremony last year almost two decades after they first started dating, with the couple hoping to make 2020 hold at least one magical memory. 

The popular actor is perhaps best known for his role as Aidan Shaw in Sex and the City and it's recently been confirmed that he will be making an appearance in the Sex and the City reboot. However, John had an even more exciting life update in store for fans as he made an astonishing revelation during a virtual chat show appearance this week. 

Opening up CBS’s The Talk, John realized that he’d not yet broken the brilliant news to co-host and friend Jerry O’Connell that he and his long-term partner Bo Derek had finally tied the knot. 

"Jerry, I can't believe that I forgot to tell you that around Christmastime, we got married. Bo and I got married!" he delightedly declared, holding his ring finger up to the camera. 

John then went on to explain that neither he nor Bo, whom he admitted are both “private people”, had publicly confirmed their marriage until this point, having never really had the opportunity.

"We're pretty private people. We didn't make an announcement,” the acclaimed actor continued. “All our friends and family knew but this is the first time either one of us has said anything publicly about it because really we haven't had an opportunity. So, you're my buddy and now I guess I'm telling all of America, or the world."

"After 20 years we decided to get married," John added. "We didn't want 2020 to be that thing that everybody looks back at and hated. We thought, 'Well, let's get one nice thing out of it.'"

John Corbett and Bo Derek, who starred in the hit films 10 and Bolero, were first reported as dating back in 2002 and have now spent almost 20 happy years together. According to Today, the couple were introduced by Hollywood agent Norby Walters, who reportedly set them up on a date at his annual Oscars party.

Since then their relationship has gone from strength to strength and Bo has expressed her belief that humor is a huge part of their enduring partnership. 

Opening up during an interview with Fox News last year she stated adoringly, “He makes me laugh all the time. He’s full of life, full of joy. I became attracted to him and I still am. We take things day by day and I think we are still there.”

Whilst John has previously explained to ET that Bo’s ability to listen and live in the moment is something he perceives as playing an important role in their decades-long relationship. 

"Because she really listens to me," John told the publication. "By that, I mean she really listens to what I'm saying and watches what I'm doing and she's just present. She's in the moment as the cliché saying goes."
