You might have already seen Joe Wicks' workouts online, but he's released a series of video workouts that caters to seniors and those with reduced mobility. Although these exercises are targeted at seniors, many younger people have also enjoyed these videos that just take working out at a more gentle pace.
In his series of Joe Wicks' workouts for seniors, The Body Coach challenges viewers to complete a range of gentle exercises that are ideal for those with lower mobility or those who are new to exercise.
What are Joe Wicks' workout videos for seniors?
Joe Wicks' series of workout videos for seniors offers calmer, lower impact versions of his P.E class with different apparatus and techniques woven in. Some involve marching, gentle stretches and low-impact squatting, while the others involve workouts that can be completed while sitting down. It can be useful to work out which workout moves are right for your body shape before you begin.
There are currently eight videos in the series so far, with five that are 10 minutes long and three that are around 15 minutes long. You can team with regular exercises during the week, like swimming or walking for weight loss to see results.
So far, each of the videos has amassed hundreds of thousands of views, and fans of his are raving about their new-found flexibility. As one YouTube comment reads, 'Thanks Joe! You got me up and moving and surprised me how much I need this! See you tomorrow!'
How to watch Joe Wicks' workouts for seniors videos
If you want to get involved with some more exercise, the videos for seniors, along with the rest of Joe Wicks' workouts can be found on his YouTube channel. The perfect post-5pm antidote for a day spent working from home.
In most of his videos, you can take part in a full-body workout. However, Joe has also created exercise routines that are chair-based, for those less able to stand.
In the first video, released in February 2021, Joe showcases 15 moves in 15 minutes. He says that on average this workout has 35 seconds work with 25 seconds rest per exercise.
In the second video, which was made in April 2020, Joe shows how to exercise from a seated position. This exercise is aimed at those who are less able to stand comfortably.
Joe encourages anyone taking part in his workouts to give it their all, as exercise improves mental health as well as physical. However he does warn, "Take care when exercises and if you don't already exercise regularly take it slowly at first."
