John Lewis have launched the ultimate trouser suit and Instagram is going wild for it

Known for their classic pieces that’re worth investing in, John Lewis is the cornerstone of the high street for all the right reasons. And now, they’ve sent Instagram into a spin with a gorgeous green trouser suit.

Debunking the myth that suits are stuffy and only for workwear, this two-piece is a breath of fresh air. Whilst the tailored shape means it’s of course still office-appropriate, the on-trend shade and figure-flattering wide leg means it’ll work for play too. Priced at £120 for the jacket and £99 for the trousers, it won’t break the band either.

Styled in four different ways by some of our favourite bloggers for fashion inspiration, (Nicole Ocran, Amira, Sophia Rosemary and Alya Mooro – give them a follow if you don’t already) proves that it really does suit all figures.

Follow their lead and keep it casual teamed with a simple plain or striped t-shirt or blouse. A cross-body bag will add to the laid-back feel, whilst a pop of box-fresh white trainer plays into sports luxe vibes. Or, for a slightly smarter edge, follow Alya’s lead with a heeled boot. Maybe not advisable for a day of running errands though.

To make the most of your cost-per-wear, get your suit to work harder by styling for evening too. The wide shoulders give the look an androgynous feel which can be easily balanced out with a slinky v-neck camisole. Tuck it in to make the most of your waistline or wear it out to play with the lines.

A pair of strappy sandals and a statement earring will finish off the look perfectly. If you don’t have any barely-there heels in your wardrobe already, the high-street is full of designer doubles at purse-friendly prices – just look to Zara and H&M.

Fans of the suit took to Instagram in their droves to show their appreciation for this bold look, with one commenting on Amira’s photo, ‘I need this suit in my wardrobe,’ whilst another added ‘you make green look amazing.’

Currently available online in sizes 8-18, both the jacket and blazer also come in a punchy cobalt shade and a parred-back neutral.
