Penelope Cruz has long been one of our style icons. Her dark sultry features and long flowing mane make up her signature look. But in a new Instagram shot, the Hollywood star has been pictured with a new look entirely - the blunt bob.

Bob hairstyles are having a moment. The ultimate power haircut, this sharp and sleek look is fast becoming the hairstyle of 2021. Not to mention that bobs are apparently the most hygienic haircut to opt for.

After months of leaving our hairdryer and straighteners to languish in our beauty drawers, with the standard lockdown uniform consisting of a messy bun and comfy loungewear, we're ready to embrace a more polished look - be it an on-trend short hairstyle or chic blunt, layered or messy bob hairstyle.

Alongside the photograph, Penelope wrote 'Shooting today with @lancomeoffical #comingsoon.'

And fans were quick to praise her new look, with one writing, 'Omg omg omg!!!! I love these pictures!!! You look fabulous.'

While another said, 'This looks amazing 😍  and love the hair ❤️ '

A third wrote, 'Loveeeeee the hair.'

Fans of dark Netflix drama I Care a Lot and mini-series Behind Her Eyes will be accustomed to the look, with both female leads wearing this particular style.

Yes, a bob might be a little more effort than the messy bun we've been sporting. But there's a formula to it; regular trims, daily blow-drying and you’ll need a pair of the best straighteners too, but the results speak for themselves and once you’ve got your bob hairstyle learning how to style a bob becomes easy
