Prince George and Princess Charlotte could see a major change to their routine after Christmas, as schools prepare to close their doors in January.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte could be facing an extended break from their school chums this Christmas, as fears grow that UK schools will close in the New Year due to the rise in Covid-19 infections.

Prince William and Kate Middleton's two older children currently attend St. Thomas's Battersea, a private preparatory school in London, where they enjoy a top-class education in the company of some of the country's most privileged children.

Just like their fellow 600 pupils, George and Charlotte are expected to follow strict uniform rules and adhere to a rigid code of discipline whilst on the property—or risk facing the consequences from their tough-love parents at home in Kensington Palace

It now looks like the royal heirs will be spending a lot more time with mum and dad next term, as rumors mount that UK pupils will return to remote learning due to the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant. Sajid Javid, the Health Secretary, has refused to guarantee that the nation's schools will remain open in the New Year, prompting many families and teachers to prepare for the worst-case scenario.

According to 'well-placed source', Thomas’s London Day Schools, the organization that runs George and Charlotte's school, has already begun adapting its lessons for another lockdown.

“The board is currently drawing up plans to prepare for remote working. Discussions have been ongoing in recent weeks and an announcement is likely to be made shortly," the insider told the Telegraph.

Luckily for George (8) and Charlotte (6), their parents are more than willing to step up when it comes to their education. It's no secret that Kate was homeschooling her children at Amner Hall during the third lockdown last year, and with royal engagements likely to decrease with rising Covid rates, it's very likely she'll resume the post once again this January.

The Duchess admitted she found the experience "exhausting" during a Zoom engagement in January 2021, revealing that she felt "pulled in so many different directions" as she tried to balance the role of teaching with parenting. She also confessed to struggling to explain math to them, rating her own numerical skills as a pitiful minus five out of ten.

Here's hoping Kate will find this time around a little easier!
