Prince Charles jets off on first royal overseas tour in two years following important call with Queen
Prince Charles has made an important trip overseas with his wife Duchess Camilla as the Queen continues to rest as advised by her doctors
Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall have made a trip abroad for their first overseas trip in two years since the pandemic restricted international travel.
- Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla have just jetted off to the Middle East.
- Before the royal couple went on their overseas tour, they had an important chat with the Queen.
- In other royal news, Kate Middleton’s ‘significant placement’ at Remembrance service proves her new position in the royal family.
It was confirmed back in October that Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla were planning to undertake a major overseas trip to Kate Middleton’s former home, Jordan.
Clarence House announced at the time, “At the request of the British Government, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and The Arab Republic of Egypt from 16th - 19th November.”
This trip marks Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla's first international trip in two years as their royal engagements overseas were halted during the pandemic.

Before the couple left, they reportedly had an important chat with the Queen to check in ahead of their trip. The Queen is currently staying at Sandringham House and a source recently confirmed that the Queen, 'will not undertake events,' such as large scale honours again.
On their tour, the couple will arrive in Amman on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, and then later travel to Egypt.
The key theme of this trip will be to promote tolerance between different religions as the couple visits various holy sites and events promoting interfaith celebrations.

The Queen is the head of the Church of England in the UK and therefore Prince Charles' presence as a future religious leader is particularly significant.

Another key theme of this trip will be climate change. Prince Charles just recently attended the COP26 in place of his mother the Queen who was unable to make an appearance due to her poor health.
Climate Change has always been an issue close to Prince Charles' heart and an issue that he has taken incredibly seriously. Prince Charles called the COP26 summit a, 'last chance saloon' to save the planet and has often used his position in the royal family to shine a light on this problem.
Duchess Camilla's interests will also be highlighted during this trip as they will also be invited to see work being done in Jordan that keeps girls in education and protects both vulnerable children and mothers.
Duchess Camilla has often campaigned for both women's education and the end of abuse against women.
