Zara Tindall's husband Mike offers an obscure perspective on self isolation

Zara Tindall's husband Mike has likened self isolation to a popular sport to help people understand the concept.

  • Mike Tindall shared the cricket analogy on Instagram in order to educate his followers on the precautions we must all take against COVID-19
  • The former rugby player likened self isolation to an infamous moment during the third Ashes test
  • It follows royal news that Prince Charles has tested positive for COVID-19

The Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall's husband is attempting to educate people on how to better quarantine themselves as the nation attempts to battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

Mike, 41, took to Instagram to share a photo of English cricketers Ben Stokes and Jack Leach and wrote, "Just think of it this way… We are Jack Leach and the NHS is Ben Stokes. All we have to do is stay in and assist our partner so they can get us through the battle!

"Don't be taking any risky singles though! Lyon might not be able to catch, but you could catch Corona! #StaySafe."

Mike's plea with the nation is a U-turn from just weeks ago when he questioned whether "cancelling everything" is the answer to combatting the pandemic.

Speaking at Cheltenham Festival, Mike said, "Do I feel that cancelling everything is going to solve it? I’m not entirely sure.”

It follows news that Prince Charles is the first member of the royal family to test positive for COVID-19.

The news was revealed in a statement released by a spokesperson, who revealed that it’s not possible to identify when the Prince became infected.

The spokesperson said, “In accordance with government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland. The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”
