Meghan Markle will carry out her first public engagement since she and husband Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals today.
- The Duchess of Sussex will attend a virtual summit organised by Girl Up, which takes place today and tomorrow.
- She will share the virtual stage with other high-profile speakers, such as former US First Lady Michelle Obama and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
- This follows royal news that Princess Eugenie broke her silence on an important issue.
Meghan's speech will be the first she has delivered at a public event since she attended the Endeavour Fund Awards in London back in March.
She is expected to speak directly to global girls leaders of the future during the virtual speech.
Girl Up is an association operating in 120 countries and seeking to unite young female leaders asking for equality in wages, rights and living standards.
Meghan and Harry recently signed with major US speaker agency Harry Walker, which also looks after a number of high profile stars including the Obamas and tennis legend Serena Williams.
A source told the Los Angeles Times that Meghan Markle and Harry “will be engaging in moderated discussions and keynote speeches with trade associations, corporations and community forums” through the agency.
Though it's not known if Meghan is being paid for today's speech, PR expert Mark Borkowski claimed that Meghan and Harry could earn at least £1million for each speaking slot they take part in.
He told The Sun, “I’m surprised they haven’t done this sooner.
“It will be one of the great income generators for them. They will clean up – they are up there with the Obamas.
“The speaker’s circuit is a natural safe space for them to plunder.
“And they are doing it in America, which is where the money is.”
