Duchess Camilla has been praised by fans as an “amazing support” to Prince Charles as her dedication to her royal duties shone through as she championed two iconic public figures.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has been observed attending even more public engagements in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year as she and other senior members of the extended Royal Family step up to support Her Majesty and honor her historic milestone. Now she’s traveled to Wiltshire where she opened the largest festival dedicated to history, the Chalke Valley History Festival.

Known for her passion for reading and for encouraging others to immerse themselves in literature, it’s perhaps no surprise that Duchess Camilla delightedly opened the festival this year. She did so ahead of a discussion between best-selling historical novelists, Philippa Gregory and Alison Weir  about 'Rediscovering Women in History’.

And just as she was full of praise for their impact upon her and others, fans were overjoyed to see the “incredible” Duchess at work.

Sharing a series of wonderful snaps taken during Duchess Camilla’s festival appearance, the Clarence House official social media accounts also shared an insightful message from the future Queen Consort. In it, the Duchess of Cornwall explained how “captivated” she and so many of her fellow bookworms have been by the works of both Alison Weir and Philippa Gregory.

“We are very lucky to have two of our finest historical novelists with us here today,” she said, before going on to share her admiration for how Alison and Philippa have given forgotten women a voice.

Duchess Camilla continued, “Through their books, they have captivated literally millions of readers across the globe, including me, and they have given a voice to women who, for centuries, have been overlooked, forgotten or misunderstood.”

Her love of reading couldn’t have shone through more clearly in her heartfelt declaration and fans were quick to express their joy at seeing her champion literature and these hugely impactful authors in particular.

One fan suggested that her dedication to causes close to her heart and her hard work is hugely significant as a “support” to the Prince of Wales, who is first in the royal line of succession and set to become monarch in the future.

“What an incredible hardworking and thoughtful lady . An amazing support to our future king .👏”, they wrote.

“I just love how the Duchess champions and cherishes literature ~ what a delight these posts are 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️”, another fan stated.

“Duchess of Cornwall is an Amazing woman ❤️🙌👏 well done 👍”, someone else commented, echoing these sentiments.

Duchess Camilla’s attendance at the Chalke Valley History Festival comes after she officially launched her online book club, the Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room, back in 2021. This has gone on to be praised by Dame Judi Dench and has shared everything from author insights to discussion points and recommended reads.

Duchess Camilla celebrated the first anniversary of her book club this year with a special video and in her sweet caption she expressed her “joy” at all it’s achieved so far and how much it means to her to share her passion.

“What a joy it’s been to talk to - and be inspired by - so many brilliant authors over the past twelve months; to learn more about their creations and share the joy of their books with you, our followers. Possibly the only greater thing than enjoying a great book, is sharing a love of that book with others”, she declared powerfully.
