The Queen has received some brilliant news as it’s now been confirmed that one of her favorite summer events will take place in July 2021.
- The Queen often attends the Royal Windsor Horse Show where she watches her own horses take part.
- Last year’s show took place virtually, but it’s now been confirmed that the popular event will go ahead as normal later this year.

The Queen is well known for her love of horses and is often pictured at key racing events throughout the year. Last year the ongoing effects of the pandemic meant that she was unable to attend one such favored occasion. The Royal Windsor Horse Show was adapted into a virtual event last year amidst the restrictions and ongoing effects of the pandemic. Now the Queen will likely be delighted as organizers have confirmed the show will take place in person once more this year, running from 1 to 4 July 2021.
“We are looking forward to running a near as normal Show at Windsor in July,” said Show Director, Simon Brooks-Ward in an announcement post on the show’s website. “The start of this year has been difficult for all live events, but recent government announcements have given us the confidence to go full steam ahead with the organising of Royal Windsor, which includes planning for an audience.”
The show’s website also revealed that the schedule and a day-by-day program will shortly go online and that it will be running as close to its traditional format as possible. This will include International Jumping, Dressage, the Land Rover International Carriage Driving Grand Prix, International Endurance and Showing.

The Queen, who is understood to have learned how to ride at the age of three, has often watched her own horses compete in the show. She will no doubt be looking forward to the return of this much-loved event, though her daughter Princess Anne has recently opened up about the “devastating impact” illness has had upon Her Majesty’s horses.
In last year’s virtual Royal Windsor Horse Show event, the Queen celebrated two majestic victories. The 94-year-old monarch had six entries in the Showing Classes and was the outright winner in two — Class 2 for Cleveland Bays and Class 19 the Side Saddle.
As Royal Vice Presidents of the show, the Queen’s son Prince Edward and daughter-in-law Sophie, Countess of Wessex supported 2020’s virtual event and opened up in a rare interview about their daughter Lady Louise Windsor’s carriage driving talents.
"She's naturally so good at it, she really is. It's something that she has taken to very well," Sophie revealed.
