Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes - they're the TV couple (on and off screen) we all love to watch, whether they're chatting away on an episode of This Morning, or exploring the world of the incredibly wealthy on How The Other Half Lives. Their witty banter, the amusing way Ruth keeps Eamonn in check, and the fond family anecdotes they share with their viewers ensure that they're one of the nation's favourite presenting duos.

But what is most endearing about the pair is their real-life marriage, and the way it affectionately translates into their professional relationship for viewers. Just recently, the couple shared a heart-warming story live on This Morning, when Ruth revealed how Eamonn went to her mother to ask for her hand in marriage, as her father sadly had dementia.

She said, "My father obviously couldn't give him permission so Eamonn asked my mum. I didn't know this and I thought that was a really lovely thing to do."

Eamonn responded, "And you did cry... And you're going to cry again."

The couple have now been together for over 22 years, and got married in 2010. They also have a 15-year-old son Jack Alexander, who was born in 2002.

And it's clear the two are still madly in love - so surely the couple have a few tricks up their sleeve?

When questioned about the secret to a happy marriage, Eamonn simply replied, "Just to keep talking and to keep laughing." Ruth agreed with her husband, saying, "We do laugh a lot. People say ‘Oh Eamonn and Ruth always bicker', and we do. But we also laugh, a lot."

The couple also revealed in an interview in 2015 that they always make sure to make an effort with their marriage, with Ruth admitting that Eamonn is skilled at present-giving.

Discussing their wedding anniversary celebration in June 2015, Ruth spoke about the spa break she organised. She said, "I organised it but Eamonn's very thoughtful with presents and gifts."

The pair stuck to the traditional method of anniversary gift-giving for their fifth wedding anniversary (wood): "Eamonn got my favourite picture from our wedding and found an artist who does lovely framed pop art. I got him a lovely wooden Italian shoe cleaning set and a wooden trinket box with an old map showing where we got married on it."

So it seems it could well be that simple - keep laughing, and keep buying each other presents. Sounds good to us!
