An interview of Lindsay Lohan and David Letterman has been unearthed and fans are horrified by the way that the star was treated.

Editor of The Face magazine, Trey Taylor, posted the clip of a 2013 interview with Lindsay Lohan and it quickly went viral, but for all the wrong reasons.

It now has over 10 million views and fans are disgusted by the way Letterman spoke to Lindsay throughout the interview. The star was quizzed by the late-night host and asked personal questions about her mental health and addiction that clearly made Lindsay feel uncomfortable.

Lindsay appeared on the show to promote her movie Scary Movie 5 but Letterman quickly changed his interviewing tactics and interrogated the star about her personal issues and mental health. Letterman fired questions at the star such as, “Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab?” “How long will you be in rehab” and “what are they rehab-ing?”

Lindsay clearly was shocked by this line of questioning and said, “we didn’t discuss any of this in the pre-interview.” The rest of the show was filled with uncomfortable digs as Letterman made Lindsay’s mental health and addiction the cruel butt of his jokes.

On several occasions, Lindsay made it clear that she was uncomfortable and didn’t want to discuss her rehabilitation. She stated in the interview, "You can't make a joke of it, that's so mean."

Another Twitter user commented that this wasn't the first time that Letterman had used his interviews to make women uncomfortable. The Twitter user said, “David Letterman has always been rude/misogynistic af. Cher had his number back in the 80’s.”

Fans have demanded that David Letterman should apologize to Lindsay with one writing, “Always loved David Letterman. This is so disappointing! Apologize!”

Another commented, Lindsay's being SO much more polite and well-composed than I would've been in response to David whipping all those INVASIVE and INSULTING questions at me EVEN AFTER HE AGREED TO NOT DO THAT BEFORE THE SHOW WENT LIVE. You need to apologize to Lindsay Lohan, David Letterman.”

Since the airing of ‘Framing Britney,’ a discussion has begun that reexamines the way women in the limelight have been treated by the media. Many fans are demanding that female celebrities receive apologies from those who publicly shamed them. This included Justin Timberlake apologizing to Janet Jackson and Britney Spears for his past behavior.

But some argue that this treatment of women by the media is just the "tip of the iceberg." Writer Emily L Hauser wrote on Instagram, “I'm glad people are talking about the viciousness that Monica Lewinsky, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, & Lindsay Lohan faced. Please understand that they're the tip of the iceberg, & every girl & woman alive at the time saw, & learned a lot about who has power & who has worth.”
