Want to live like the royal family? This new study reveals how much it would cost to rent each royal estate
From Buckingham Palace to Frogmore Cottage
It comes as no surprise that the royal family is living luxuriously, but just how expensive are those extravagant estates? UNCLE, a UK-based residential rental company, decided to crunch numbers and uncover the monthly rent of the British monarch's not-so-humble abodes. As you can imagine, the results are absolutely mad!
• From Buckingham Palace to Frogmore Cottage, UNCLE's research revealed what the monthly rent would look like at the royal family's famed estates throughout the U.K.
• Interest in living like a royal has stemmed from the popularity of The Crown, according to the study.
• In more royal news, Meghan Markle channeled the Queen during her Vax Live appearance, according to experts.
Talk about accommodations fit for a queen! The royal family is living quite comfortably at its many estates throughout the U.K., and one study decided to get technical. In order to project the monthly rent for each location, UNCLE utilized floor plans that are similar to the royal residences and estimated size in square meters. Perhaps now is the time to bargain with the British Monarch if you fancy a summer stay.
With a staggering 775 rooms, Buckingham Palace comes in as the most expensive royal property to rent. (No surprise there, considering it's home to the Queen.) The survey indicates that one month's rent would likely cost over £2.5 million (roughly $3 million).
Sandringham, The Queen's 20,000-acre estate—which now boasts a Kate Middleton-inspired playground—is located in Norfolk and is projected to be £78,257 per month (roughly $95,000).
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Anmer Hall—a gorgeous escape for a budding family—would be a bit over £44,000 per month (nearly $54,000).
Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sits on the lower end of costs at roughly £17,650 ($21,500) per month.
Thinking about a monthly stay at Windsor Castle? The Queen's residence is likely £1.3 million ($1.6 million) per month.
Home to Kate Middleton and Prince William, Kensington Palace would likely be an estimated £175,000 per month ($212,000).
You can learn more about the study and see all of its inclusions by visiting UNCLE online. Be sure to explore fun staycations in the U.K. that are equally as beautiful but not nearly as pricey.
