The Duke of Cambridge, 40, is expected to attend an innovation summit for Earthshot Prize 2022 in New York City on September 21, just a few months before the second annual awards ceremony for the environmental prize will be held in Boston.
The event, co-hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies, will see finalists and winners of last year's Earthshot Prize congregate for a "showcasing and accelerating" of the "groundbreaking climate actions to repair the planet by 2030".
A longtime advocate of ecological issues, Prince William is expected to deliver a speech at the summit alongside the former mayor of New York City, Michael R. Bloomberg. It's understood that he will not be accompanied by the Duchess of Cambridge or his three children, who will likely be busy settling into their new home of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
Prince William last traveled to the United States in 2014, when he and Kate Middleton spent three days on the East Coast visiting Washington DC and New York. The whirlwind tour, on which the duchess was about 18 weeks pregnant with Princess Charlotte, marked the royal couple's first trip to America since their visit to California in 2011.
Prince William will be in the US at the same time as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but it remains unknown if he'll get to see his brother and sister-in-law during his stay.
The Sussexes will have recently returned from their overseas trip for the Invictus Games events in Germany and the WellChild Awards in the UK, which take place on September 6 and September 8, respectively. Prince William will return to the USA with Kate Middleton in December for the Earthshot Awards 2022, but reportedly has no plans to meet Harry and Meghan during the visit.
