The Duke of Sussex is keen to keep his position as ceremonial head of the Royal Marines, despite stepping back from royal life earlier this year.

Prince Harry is technically still Captain General of the Marines, despite making the shock decision to step back from royal life with Meghan Markle earlier this year.
Given that the Queen is yet to hire a replacement as ceremonial head of the Royal Marines, Prince Harry wants to keep his position - according to a friend of his.
According to The Daily Mirror a former Invictus Games Soldier asked not to be named and said, "We spoke about the Games, I was very respectful and did not ask him anything about his new life or anything.
"He simply said he misses his role with the Marines and would like one day to return to the appointment."
With the Duke and Duchess of Sussex having stepped down as senior royals back in March to pursue a more "peaceful" life out of the limelight, it is thought the Queen's daughter, Princess Anne, could take over the coveted head of the Royal Marines role.
It was a position Prince Harry was given back in 2017 after Prince Philip stepped down as Captain General of the Royal Marines after 64 years.
Having served in the Army for ten years, Prince Harry, 35, was always a huge hit with the Royal Marines during his time in the ceremonial role.
A separate military source told the Daily Mirror, "Harry was a breath of fresh air, the lads could relate to him and he was a very popular figure who took a keen interest in his job.
"When he packed it in, it was a shock."
The Duke and his wife made the bombshell announcement at the beginning of the year. And, while their decision came as a shock to many, the father-of-one said there “really was no other option” following months of scrutiny.
Citing their reasons for making the decision to step back, Harry said, “But I hope that helps you understand what it had come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known, to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life.
“I was born into this life, and it is a great honour to serve my country and the Queen.”
