- Prince Harry and his then-girlfriend Meghan Markle attended a Halloween party in 2016 in disguise.
- The couple was keeping their relationship a secret and this outing was a significant point in their relationship.
- In other royal news, The Queen has been forced to cancel this historic royal tradition following doctors' advice.
In an unauthorized biography, Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a ‘perfect’ evening together at Soho House in Toronto to celebrate Halloween 2016.
The reporters said in the book, “They especially didn't feel like spending Halloween weekend in hiding, as there was much to celebrate.”
"Some four months into their relationship, they were madly in love and eager to take part in the fun of one of their favorite holidays.”
"The evening of October 29, with Harry in town, the couple decided to go to a big costume party being thrown at Soho House in Toronto."
The couple decided to wear Venetian-style masks so that they wouldn’t be recognized by people in attendance at the party. Princess Eugenie was also in attendance at this event with her now-husband Jack Brooksbank.
The authors continued to say, “A cocktail or so into the party, they were both feeling relaxed, absorbing the Halloween spirit.”
"It was possibly the perfect night out—until they received a call from one of Harry's aides at Kensington Palace. It wasn't good news."
The couple discovered that the press had discovered that they were dating and the next day their relationship would be announced across the world.
This means that this Halloween party was the last opportunity that Prince Harry and Meghan had to celebrate their relationship privately.
The couple was reported to be sad and angry that the press had found out about their relationship but the two continued to have a good evening, which would be their last night of privacy for a long time.
Finding Freedom also explores Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's heartbreak at Prince Philip's death. The Duke of Edinburgh died at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle in April 2021. The biography also includes the Oprah interview that shocked the nation in March 2021.
