Prince Charles was asked his thoughts on his son Prince Harry's recent podcast interview during a recent royal engagement.

Prince Harry recently appeared on actor Dax Shepard's podcast Armchair Expert, where he reflected on the experience of growing up as a member of the royal family.

During the interview the Duke arguably made some controversial comments about his father Prince Charles, and the 'genetic pain' he feels has been passed on through the royal family.

Harry, who is expecting his second child with Meghan Markle this summer, explained that he wanted to 'break the cycle' of pain for his own children. The couple's first child, Archie, recently celebrated his second birthday.

He told Dax Shepard, "I don't think we should be pointing the finger or blaming anybody, but certainly when it comes to parenting, if I've experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I'm going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don't pass it on, basically. It's a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on.

Before continuing, "I started to piece it together and go 'Okay, so this is where he went to school, this is what happened, I know this about his life, I also know that is connected to his parents so that means he's treated me the way he was treated, so how can I change that for my own kids?'"

Following the interview, Prince Charles was on a visit to a BCB International, a company which makes survival and medical equipment.

Whilst walking around the business, one BBC reporter asked the Prince of Wales his thoughts on his son's comments, asking "Sir, do you agree with Prince Harry about the suffering and pain in the family? Have you read his comments?"

However, Charles chose not to comment, simply ignoring the question and continuing on with his visit.

It's not the first time Prince Harry has publicly commented on his relationship with his father.

During his and Meghan's bombshell interview with Oprah earlier this year, Harry revealed that he and his father haven't spoken much in recent years.

Harry said, "There’s a lot to work through there, you know? I feel really let down, because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like.

"I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened. And I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship."
