- Duchess Catherine and Mary competed against Prince William and Nadiya Hussain, but the competition provided an ‘iconic’ between the the royal and the former Bake Off judge.
- This follows royal news that Prince William paid a lovely tribute to Princess Diana during the show, which left viewers in tears.
A Berry Royal Christmas aired last night, showcasing the work the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been doing with the charities they support with the help of baking legend Mary Berry.
In between discussing very serious topics, the trio still had time for a healthy dose of Great British Bake Off-inspired competition. Mary teamed up with Duchess Catherine and former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain giving Prince William a much needed hand in making a roulade.

But the funniest exchange during the show happened when Catherine was helping Mary ice cupcakes for guests at the festival and asked the future queen if she'd like to “have a squirt on a cake”.
Catherine replied, “Can you show me how to do it first?”
After spotting the hilarious exchange, one wrote on Twitter, ‘Did Mary just ask Catherine if she would like to squirt on a cake?’

Another dubbed it ‘iconic’, writing, 'Mary Berry asking Kate Middleton if she'd like to squirt on a cake is ICONIC.’
A third added, 'Squirt on the cake, she's going to be queen!'
The show seemed to be very well received by the public, with plenty of positive reactions on social media.
One viewer commented, ‘I am always the first to say I'm not a royalist. However, having watched this show, I was so touched by Kate and William and how down to earth they are. Their work for their charities is really admirable. William in particular is a real funny guy. #ABerryRoyalChristmas’.
Another said, ‘Feeling cheery now. After a bleak weekend, I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard. Well done William & Kate, and Mary Berry. Great to see good work behind the scenes with these charities as well.'
