The Strictly Come Dancing judges may be gearing up for another series of the hit BBC show, but one of them is also preparing for another, exciting new role.
It was announced yesterday that Shirley Ballas, Strictly’s new Head Judge, would be joining the This Morning team, to front a new feature called ‘Matchmaker Mountain’.
The dancing professional will be matching up 50 plus singletons with their dream date, and taking them off to a mountainside retreat, where they’ll have the chance to get to know each other.
After the news was announced on yesterday’s show, Shirley appeared via video from Los Angeles.
She said, “I’m joining This Morning and on a mission to help you find love!
“As a woman in my fifties – I know that the idea of dating later in life can be scary. But that’s where I can help.”
She continued, “If you feel that love has left you marooned on an island of loneliness, get in touch and take part.
“I’ll help you climb to the heights of passion as you look for love on Matchmaker Mountain! Coming soon to This Morning.”
If you fancy taking part, the show has urged viewers to get in touch, explaining why they feel they should be chosen and what they are looking for in a partner. You can visit www.itv.com/thismorning for full details, and terms can be found at itv.com/terms.
Shirley’s exciting news of course comes just weeks before the next season of Strictly kicks off – with the celebrity contestants slowing being announced each day.
Today (Thursday 16th August), the seventh contestant will be announced on This Morning, with Ruth and Eamonn revealing the news on Wednesday’s show.
In fact, the couple even hinted that it could be Eamonn who takes part this year, after wife Ruth’s stint last year.
Ruth said,“And tomorrow [on This Morning] we will be announcing the next Strictly person”, to which Eamonn joking responded, “Shhh, don’t say anything!”
He continued, “All I’m saying is I’ll be dancing with Oti [Mabuse], that’s all I’m saying…”.
While Ruth pointed out, “You don’t get to choose!”
We wonder which star will be taking part?
