Strictly Come Dancing star suffers injury as show rehearsals start

Strictly Come Dancing will be hitting our screens soon, but unfortunately for one star, they’ve suffered an injury at the worst possible time.

Olympic rower and new Strictly contestant James Cracknell revealed the details on Twitter, telling fans that he had “an altercation with a minicab driver” whilst cycling.

But he reassured fans that he wasn’t hurt too badly in the ‘altercation’, explaining that he’s just got a few bumps and bruises.

He captioned his video: “Slight wobble – literally – in my @bbcstrictly preparations. Luckily only a bit of road rash and damaged ego – but I need to get ready for the latter. #daddancing #sharetheroad”

One user responded to James’ tweet, saying, ‘Heal fast mate, hope the bike is ok!’

While another hoped it wouldn’t affect his dance moves, saying, ‘Can’t wait to see you on strictly……fake tan and sequins all the way’.

Joking on his video, the star said: “To be honest, I have more of a chance of winning the Tour than winning Strictly Come Dancing, but in for a penny!”

Only time will tell, we suppose!

James was announced as the 14th Strictly contestant last week, but didn’t have high hopes for his performance as he’s due to take to the dance floor.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain, he said, “I single-mindedly lean on a bar, and then at some point in the night, I think I’m really good at dancing.

“I know what I’m in for, and I’ve had some mates who’ve done it as well… It’s going to be really interesting having no confidence in it and then, working to see, ‘OK, can you do it?'”

James will be competing against a whole host of people including RuPaul Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, comedian Chris Ramsey and broadcaster Anneka Rice. The full line-up has now been revealed, and can be found on Strictly’s Instagram account.

The much-loved dance off will be returning to our screens later this year, and we’re already excited about it. Are you rooting for anyone yet?
