Sad news for Strictly fans: contestant Jamie Laing has been forced to leave due to an injury.
The Made in Chelsea star reportedly pulled a tendon in his foot during rehearsals, and has had to leave the competition as a result of this.
In a statement, Jamie Laing said: “I’m absolutely devastated that I’m unable to continue in the competition, I was so excited to hit the dance floor! I would like to wish the lovely couples all the very best and hope they enjoy their time on the show to the fullest.”
Strictly Come Dancing’s Executive Producer, Sarah James said: “We are so sad that Jamie won’t be able to take part in the series, he had already lit up the ballroom during the launch show with his boundless energy and enthusiasm. We all wish him a full and speedy recovery.”
An insider had spoken to The Sun at the time of Jamie’s injury, saying: “It’s touch and go for Jamie and bosses are waiting to see how his results look after he gets a proper X-ray done.
“Producers are hoping he’s just landed awkwardly during the group dance and tweaked something rather than it being a more serious injury.”
But unfortunately the injury was serious, with Jamie now needing to rest up instead of dancing the night away against the other contestants.
It seemed Jamie was very much looking forward to starring on the show, even taking part in a Q&A on the Strictly Come Dancing Twitter account.
Many people had commented underneath, with one fan writing: “He’s the celeb I’m most looking forward to watching. I’ve been a fan for years, great guy. Good luck Jamie, I’m rooting for you.”
Another one had agreed, saying: “As a big Made In Chelsea fan, I cant wait to see Jamie becoming a dancer.”
Sadly Jamie won’t be taking to the dance floor this series, but he will feature in the Strictly launch show this Sunday (7th September), as it’s pre-recorded. So that’s a small consolation for anyone who was hoping to see Jamie in the ballroom.
We’re wishing Jamie Laing a speedy recovery – hopefully he can dance again soon!
