The Great British Bake Off 2017 judges

For real bake off fans out there, seeing too many soggy bottoms, leaking pies or over-proved loaves of bread is not something you can image. And when each series ends you crave for more.

With Channel 4's first series of The Great British Bake Off heading into its final weeks, you might already be thinking about how to fill the baked goods shaped hole in your life.

Thankfully, Celebrity Great British Bake Off is coming back as part of Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer campaign to save the day.

The exact air date is yet to be confirmed but the first contestant has been announced!

Celebrity Bake Off Line Up

Ruth Davidson

The first celebrity hoping to get Prue's approval and an infamous Hollywood-handshake is Ruth Davidson.

This won't be the first time that the Scottish Conservative leader is involved in the Great British Bake Off. Last year she appeared in the spin off, An Extra Slice, to discuss the contestants' trials and tribulations during patisserie week.

Ruth is yet to comment on the announcement and very little is known about her baking capabilities. Last year she shared a picture of some cakes she decorated for Peston on Sunday. Here is a picture to help you make your own decision on her success.

The Edinburgh Central MSP has also been involved in other television shows. She did a stint on BBC2's comedy programme Have I Got News For You.

Ruth certainly isn't the only celebrity with a political background or connection to try their hand at baking. Former shadow chancellor Ed Balls took part in the celebrity bake off special for Sports Relief alongside Samantha Cameron.

Previous contestants also include: Jason Manford, Will Young, Louise Redknapp and Geri Horner.

Channel 4 has launched a string of spin off shows as part of its Stand Up to Cancer Campaign. Other shows in the campaign include: Celebrity Hunted, which features Gogglebox's Steph and Dom and Celebrity First Dates starring Sinitta.
