Anna Delvey's accent in Inventing Anna has been somewhat of a sticking point for fans who are concerned that it's unrealistic. Now the real expert, Anna Sorokin herself, has waded into the debate to voice her opinion.

Anna Delvey is the main character of Netflix's hit new show Inventing Anna. While many of us have been questioning if Inventing Anna a true story, and who are the real people behind the cast's characters? Some of us have yet to get past the question—is that really what she sounds like?

Julie Garner is a wonderful actress but her accent in the series has had many fans scratching their head as they wonder who would really fall for a pseudo-European non-specific accent like the one portrayed in the show.

The real Anna Delvey (aka Anna Sorokin) has recently revealed what she thinks of the accent that Julie Garner used to portray her—and she doesn't seem too impressed.

In an interview with Insider, Anna Sorokin revealed, "I don't feel like I sound like that," Although this sounds rather scathing, Anna went on to add that it's hard for her to judge what she really sounds like.

"It's like when you hear yourself on TV and it's not really the voice you hear in your head when you speak," said Anna.

When prompted for her opinion about the accuracy of the accent, Anna said, "I don't think it's off." She added, "I think she kind of falls in and out of it. Some of it she gets right—but not everything."

Julie Garner discussed the accent she used on the show with Indie Wire and confirmed that it was a challenge to find the right voice for Anna.

"I was like, ‘What is her accent?’ I didn’t even know what her accent was," Julie said. “It’s a hybrid of different accents. This is a girl who said that she was German, and people believed it, but she actually was born in Russia, so she’s not going to have a Russian accent. And then she probably learned English in the British way because she’s European [and] they don’t learn American English."

In the interview, Julie revealed that she worked intensively with a dialect coach to get the hybrid accent just right. Despite the hard work she put in, fans are still divided about her voice on-screen.

"The Anna Delvey accent on “Inventing Anna” is WILD," said one fan of the show on Twitter. "The Anna Delvey accent I cant take it I cant," said another.

Others were more positive about Julie's accent on social media and insisted it was just like the real-life Anna. "I think people need to watch Anna Sorokin interviews on YouTube before watching Inventing Anna on Netflix. Julia Garner absolutely nailed the accent so give it a rest! That’s EXACTLY what Anna sounded like as bizarre as it sounds!" said one fan in Julie's defense.

"If you think Julie Garner’s accent is unconvincing while watching Inventing Anna, just wait until you hear the real Anna Delvey’s accent," added another.

Inventing Anna is currently streaming on Netflix in the number one spot, so if you haven't watched this bizarre show already, you need to give it a go!
