A duvet made from trees might sound like the stuff of dreams, but it’s very real and, as it turns out, very clever. Lark’s Nature’s Blend duvet uses TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres, both derived from sustainably sourced wood, to create something that has humble, earthy origins, but a sumptuous, luxurious finish. It’s biodegradable, breathable, and impressively soft, with a silky finish that immediately sets it apart from traditional fillings.
Normally, when we talk about the best duvets, we're looking at an array of synthetics and feathers, so adding trees into the mix is an unusual, but exciting change. The label "duvet made from trees" conjures up images of leaves and bark, but the reality is a duvet crafted from eco-conscious fibres. The fibres are sourced from FSC and PEFC-certified forests and they’re also among the strongest cellulose fibres available, which means durability without bulk. More importantly for everyday life, they manage moisture exceptionally well, absorbing it far more efficiently than cotton, so you’re not left tossing and turning under something that feels damp or stifling.
So, if you’ve ever found yourself lying awake, duvet kicked to the side, wondering how to sleep in the heat, this is where things get interesting. The promise here is simple: a lighter, smarter duvet that keeps you cool without sacrificing comfort. It sounds ambitious, but in practice, it’s surprisingly convincing.
What is a duvet made of trees?
At first glance, “a duvet made of trees” sounds more poetic than practical, but the reality is far more sophisticated. Lark’s Nature’s Blend duvet uses TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres, which are derived from sustainably sourced wood pulp and transformed into exceptionally smooth, durable fibres. These materials come from renewable sources and are certified by organisations such as FSC and PEFC, so there’s a clear environmental story behind them. They’re also among the strongest man-made cellulose fibres available, which means you get a duvet that holds its structure beautifully over time without relying on synthetic fillers.
So why choose a duvet made this way? It comes down to performance as much as provenance. These fibres are naturally breathable and manage moisture far more efficiently than traditional materials, absorbing and releasing it quickly so you stay dry and comfortable through the night. You'll see later on in the review that these fibres translate into a duvet that feels lighter, stays fresher, and helps regulate your temperature more effectively. It’s a brilliant alternative to heavier, heat-trapping options, offering a balance of comfort, sustainability, and longevity too.
How we tested the Larke Nature's Blend Duvet
This duvet was put to the test by Emily Smith, a member of our Homes team. Here's a little more about her...

Emily's review of the Larke Nature's Blend Duvet is based on her first-hand experience with the product, which was provided by the brand free of charge. She slept with this duvet on her bed for about three weeks before reaching her verdict. She struggles with frequent night sweats, so finding a duvet that could offer both plushness and temperature regulation was the aim.

Who would the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet suit?
The Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet is a duvet for people who run warm, full stop. Emily, our expert tester, described it as “perfect for fellow hot sleepers,” adding that she struggles to stay cool even in winter. The lighter construction makes a noticeable difference without feeling skimpy. “I was a little sceptical at first with such a slim duvet, but it’s just as cosy and comfortable as other, more padded duvets I’ve had in the past.” The Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet balances warmth without weight, which is the sweet spot for duvets in almost all cases, because it's really manageable.

The Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet is also a smart choice if you want something practical as well as comfortable. Emily pointed out how much easier it is to handle: “It’s also not ridiculously heavy, so it doesn’t feel like an arm workout every time you make your bed.” The hemmed edges make putting on a duvet cover far less of a wrestling match too. Add in the fact that it’s made from natural, skin-friendly materials, and it really is a dreamy indulgence.
What is the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet size fit like?
Fit can make or break a duvet, and, thankfully the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet gets it right. Emily tested a double and was immediately impressed: “It’s the perfect size. It looks great on the bed and reaches over both sides and the end.” If you’ve ever battled with a duvet that barely covers the mattress, you’ll understand why this matters.
In fact, Emily noted it feels slightly more generous than other doubles she’s tried. That extra coverage gives it a more polished, hotel-like finish on the bed, without slipping or bunching. There are no complaints here, and rightly so.
Is the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet nice to sleep under?
The first thing to know is that the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet duvet looks different. It’s flatter and lighter than many traditional options, which can be a surprise at first. Emily admitted she was unsure when she unpacked it, especially compared to her previous, puffier duvet, but that initial doubt didn’t last long.
“I’ve been very pleasantly surprised and haven’t kicked it off me in the night like I’ve been doing with my previous one,” she said. Plenty of people kick duvets off in the night for comfort and temperature reasons, but in this instace, for Emily, the feel of the duvet was light and soft enough to slumber under. The loved the "soft, smooth, and breathable feel of the duvet against my skin, with none of that stifling heaviness that can build up overnight."
Emily really wanted to emphasise how soft this feels, because it's quite an unusually emphasised element of the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet. “I’m not sure I’ve had a duvet so soft before,” Emily said, which speaks to the silky nature of the fibres. While it may not deliver that big, billowy aesthetic some people love, it more than makes up for it in feel. As she put it, “I’m happy to sacrifice a little on looks if I’m being kept cool.”
Is the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet cooling?
The cooling element is part we were really intrigued by. The natural fibres promise absorption and moisture-wicking technology that should really help to keep you cool on warmer evenings. As Emily hopes, this is where the duvet sets an impressive reputation. The combination of breathable fibres and excellent moisture management means it actively works to regulate temperature rather than trap heat. These fibres absorb moisture efficiently and release it quickly, so you stay dry and comfortable through the night.
Emily noticed the difference immediately. “I could tell the first night that I didn’t wake up in the evening as much and didn’t have those weird hot-sleeping dreams.” That’s exactly what we look for in a cooling duvet. She also reported “no more night sweats,” and, perhaps most tellingly, she hasn’t needed to bring her fan back into rotation yet.
More details that it's good to know about the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet
When we got to the end of our debrief about the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet, we felt there were still some elements worth mentioning. Emily loved the clever way that the stitching keeps everything evenly distributed, so you don’t end up with lumpy patches over time. It also comes with a practical drawstring bag, which makes seasonal storage much easier.
The Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet is also low-maintenance too. Emily highlighted how easy it is to care for: “You can machine wash this duvet without it being a big drama.” For anyone prone to the occasional breakfast-in-bed mishap, that’s a genuine advantage. It’s also naturally hypoallergenic, which she found particularly helpful given her sensitivity to dust.
Should you buy the Lark Nature’s Blend Duvet?
If you’re looking for a duvet that's modern, considered, and comfortable to sleep under, this is a very strong contender. It won’t appeal to everyone aesthetically, especially if you love that lofty, cloud-like look, but in terms of performance, it delivers where it matters. Emily’s experience says it all. She went in sceptical and came out converted, sleeping more comfortably and waking less often.
