For the first time, we’ve handed the reins entirely over to you in our quest to find the best wellness products for women over 40. Of course, our expert editorial team can test products until the cows come home; but the true proof of the pudding is how they fare in the chaotic reality of everyday life. That’s why we enlisted some of our brilliant woman&home Tester Network to put the UK’s leading sleep and wellness products through their paces in their own homes.

After all, a gadget can sound amazing in a clinical testing lab, but that won't tell us how it actually performs when you’re navigating a hot flush at 3 am, struggling to drown out a partner's thunderous snoring, or desperately trying to switch off a racing mind after a relentless day. So to find out, we launched our first-ever Reader Approved Awards – we sent the UK’s bestselling rest and relaxation products straight to our readers' doors to be lived with, slept on, and thoroughly judged in the course of their real lives.

It's honest, real-world testing by real women. From brilliant, budget-friendly mattress toppers that brought new life to a tired old bed to high-tech earbuds that quite literally ‘saved marriages’, these award-winning products have proved that they are worth every penny.

How we tested our Reader Approved Award winners

To ensure every award is truly earned, we put each product through a rigorous and impartial review process. Every item on our shortlist was evaluated independently by a panel of at least three different testers in their own homes for a minimum of two weeks.

Our testers integrated these products into their nightly routines, scoring them across a variety of key criteria specific to their category – such as sensory comfort, ease of use, temperature regulation, and overall impact on sleep quality.

Once the testing phase was complete, we calculated the average score for each product from our testers' feedback. We then compared these averaged marks directly against similar products in the category. The items that consistently outperformed their peers and achieved the highest overall averages were crowned our Reader Approved winners.

We’re just getting started – this is only the first instalment of our 2026 Reader Approved Awards, and we’ll be back very soon to reveal the standout winners in our final two categories: Kitchen and Cleaning. From clever culinary game-changers to the ultimate chore-busting sanity savers, keep your eyes peeled for the next batch of reader-approved champions.
