Cat Deeley's comfy wide-leg jeans and breezy shirt is the chic, effortless pairing to take you into autumn
This timeless pairing works for late summer and beyond...
Whilst I'm certainly not wishing summer away, I can't deny my excitement for cooler weather styling, or even just the opportunity to wear my favourite jeans. And Cat Deeley's chic off-duty look has just provided the perfect daytime formula which will work right into autumn.
When it comes to elevated dressing, few combinations beat an oversized shirt paired with your best wide-leg jeans. A simple duo but one that feels both polished and relaxed, and one that works just as well in late summer with your most comfortable sandals as it does in the cooler months with leather boots and a blazer.
In an Instagram video, Cat talks through her favourite books whilst wearing this easy daytime combination. She's seen in an oversized blue shirt, with rolled-up sleeves and a relaxed pair of mid-wash jeans. Finished with simple gold jewellery, this is an outfit that works for lunches with friends, weekend trips or simply lounging at home.

With Nothing Underneath is the British clothing brand to know if you're on the hunt for well-made shirts. This organic cotton design has a relaxed cut, making it perfect for pairing with denim.
Cat's off-duty outfit is also a reminder that dressing in the transitional season doesn't mean you have to change your wardrobe completely. A well-made pair of wide-leg jeans and a quality cotton shirt are staples that can work for a variety of temperatures when styled well.
If you want to recreate this formula now, I'd recommend finishing it with open-toe sandals or ballet flats while the weather is still warm. When it starts to get cooler, switch these to a pair of your best white trainers or boots. This outfit would look especially good with a sharp trench coat layered over the top.
