The Ordinary sale has started and these are the top buys to look out for
Go, go, go! Make the most of The Ordinary discount
With the sales in full swing, it's The Ordinary discount that is making our hearts (and our skin) sing. That is, with just one teeny caveat.
If you were bracing yourself for a massive haul of The Ordinary products at the Black Friday sales on 27th November, we're sorry to disappoint you.
Like every other year, Deciem, owners of The Ordinary and Niod, is opting out of the madness. All stores will be closed, as will the website, in protest over potential waste from mass shopping sprees. But we think the alternative is even better: 23% off all The Ordinary products on the Deciem site until the 1st December.
So you can shop responsibly and have better skin to boot with this brilliant The Ordinary discount.
From the niacinamide serum that coddles sensitive skin, to the non-irritating at-home peel and the multi-tasking The Buffet, which dull and ageing skin dines out on, these are our pick of the products we think are worth buying...
The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, now £4.24
Squalane is one of the best moisturising ingredients for dry skin but its non-comedogenic, skin-identical properties also mean it is well-tolerated by oily skin, too. When massaged into the skin The Ordinary Squalane Cleanserchanges from a balm to an oil-like consistency, allowing the emulsifying sucrose esters in the formula to trap and blend the dissolved make-up and facial impurities with water for rinsing. Pretty clever, no?
The Ordinary The Buffet, now £9.78
Even the most low-maintenance beauty shopper will be keen to add The Ordinary The Buffet to their regime. Peptides, probiotics and now fewer than 11 skin-friendly amino acids target multiple signs of ageing with just one slosh.
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, now £4.54
Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water, making it a sponge for hanging onto moisture when applied to the skin. The trouble is hyaluronic acid is normally too large a molecule to penetrate the skin and so instead sits on its surface. The reason The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 is nothing short of genius is because it uses three forms of HA with varying molecular weights, so it can hydrate the skin's different layers. Think plump skin within and on top.
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque, now £7.62, Deciem.com
Lacklustre skin and clogged pores don't stand a chance against the formidable trio of salicylic acid, charcoal and clays in The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque. The charcoal and clays act hoover up impurities while the salicylic acid dissolves the wax-like plug of dead skin, sebum and grime in pores.
The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane, now £4.47, Deciem.com
1% pure retinol is proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and age spots but it lives under criticism of being too harsh. Hence, The Ordinary retinol 1% in Squalane has ensured it sits in a skin-friendly solution where hydrating squalane tempers any irritation.
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, now £4.85, Deciem.com
The most Googled of all its product stable, The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution combines a cocktail of acids (glycol/lactic/tartaric/citric/salicylic) with moisturising hyaluronic acid and Tasmanian Pepperberry extract. The idea being that the acids lift away dead cells on the skin's surface and improve the look of stretched pores - all while being buffered against irritation and tight, uncomfortable skin.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, now £3.85, Deciem.com
Touted as one of the best cure-alls for sensitive and blemish-prone skin, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum is both an effective anti-inflammatory and helps to regular sebum production.
