The Queen is 'facing dilemma' after cancelling Commonwealth service as she 'must choose events wisely'
The Queen is 'facing dilemma' as she must choose her public engagements wisely in her advancing age
The Queen is 'facing dilemma' after pulling out of the Commonwealth Day service on Monday, according to a royal expert.
- Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, says that Her Majesty must choose her engagements wisely now.
- She added that "it’s about projecting herself as much as possible for the big occasions.”
- This follows royal news that The Queen confirmed she won't attend the annual event on 14 March.
It has been confirmed that The Queen won't be attending the Commonwealth Day service on Monday, and now, according to Ingrid Seward, Her Majesty is "facing dilemma" as she has to choose her events wisely.
Referencing the Queen's advancing age, she said, “It would have been a huge wrench to miss the Commonwealth Day service but she is facing a dilemma these days where she must choose her engagements wisely."
She added how the monarch, 95, "will be very determined to make the Duke of Edinburgh’s Thanksgiving service later this month, which will be of incredible importance to her considering his funeral was so scaled back."
Ingrid also compared The Queen to her late mother, who was also very stoic in these situations. She added, “Her Majesty, I believe, is very like her mother, who was reluctant to use a wheelchair, so in her advancing years it’s about projecting herself as much as possible for the big occasions.”
Confirming that Her Majesty will not be attending on Monday, Buckingham Palace released a statement which read: “After discussing the arrangements with the Royal Household, The Queen has asked The Prince of Wales to represent Her Majesty at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on Monday.
“The Queen will continue with other planned engagements, including in person Audiences, in the week ahead.”

The Queen held her first in-person engagement since battling with COVID-19 with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Windsor Castle on Monday.
During her meeting with Mr Trudeau, the Queen was not pictured with the walking stick she has been using of late, and the pair shared a joke at the start of their meeting.
