Prince Charles is reportedly “incredibly sad” that he has not yet seen his granddaughter Lilibet and “really wants” to meet her and reconnect with the Sussexes.

Prince Charles became a proud grandfather of five this year after his youngest son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the birth of their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Lilibet is the Queen’s eleventh great-grandchild and is eighth in the royal line of succession. Despite her prominence within the Royal Family, however, she has yet to be introduced to them in person. Prince Harry and Meghan have settled in the US since they decided to "step back" as senior royals and they have been surrounded by speculation of a "rift" between themselves and the Royal Family since their Oprah Winfrey interview aired.

Now a royal expert has suggested that the situation has made Prince Charles “incredibly sad” and he is eager to meet baby Lilibet and see his son, daughter-in-law and two-year-old grandson Archie. Opening up to Us Weekly, Nick Bullen stated, “I think Prince Charles really wants to meet his granddaughter.”

“Prince Charles is incredibly sad about everything that’s gone on. So the family will want to meet each other,” he added.

Nick then went on to express his belief that the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 could be the perfect opportunity for the Queen’s son to reconnect with the Sussexes. A four day Bank Holiday has already been confirmed in the UK in honor of the occasion and it’s thought that the Queen has invited Prince Harry and Meghan to the celebrations.

“The Jubilee is a perfect opportunity for that because if Harry and Megan do come back … because they have to be seen supporting Queen Elizabeth II. It’s a great moment for everyone to be together,” the royal expert claimed.

“And everyone’s going to have to play nicely and behave well because it’s the Queen’s moment,” he added, explaining, “All the members of the royal family are very aware of the fact that it’s her year. They’re going to support her [and] the headlines shouldn’t be about them.”

If Prince Harry and Meghan do indeed reunite with the wider Royal Family for these milestone celebrations, then royal fans could perhaps see the Queen’s great-grandchildren steal the show as it would mark the first time all the most recent royal arrivals will likely have been seen together in person.

Reports have recently claimed that the Sussexes have made a request to meet the Queen in the not-too-distant future and that they hope to introduce her to their now-three-month-old daughter.

Though with these unconfirmed, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations would certainly be a wonderful time for the royals to come together and meet baby Lilibet.
