Duchess Camilla was the first to leave Christmas at Sandringham in past years as she couldn't miss her favorite TV show's Christmas special!
- Duchess Camilla had to dash in order to watch her favorite shoe—Strictly Come Dancing!
- The royal has previously appeared on the show, which is one of her favorites.
- In other royal news, Kate Middleton must bow to these members of the royal family—even though she's in line to be Queen
The Duchess of Cornwall is just as mad about her favorite TV choices as the rest of us. We're sure she loved watching this year's Strictly Come Dancing winner take the glitterball trophy and there's no chance she'll miss the Christmas special either!
According to the Express, reports from the Daily Mail back in 2011 included the fact Duchess Camilla hit the road after the day's festivities in order to get home to watch the show at her property in nearby Ray Mill.
A royal insider told the publication, “Her difficulty is that Strictly’s Christmas special is screened on Christmas Day, when she’ll be taking part in the royal festivities. So, she’s recording it to make sure she can see it when she gets back to Ray Mill."
"She just can’t miss a single show," they added.
You might wonder why Sandringham House became the Queen’s Christmas destination, and where the royal family will be over the festive period. Unfortunately, on the Queen's first Christmas as a widow it seems as though their plans are changing a mile a minute. But we do know where Duchess Camilla will be—watching her beloved Strictly.
Fans of the Duchess and the BBC's flagship Dancing show are all too aware of her devotion to the competition. As a matter of fact, she made a surprise appearance during the Strictly 2020 final!
In a video message with the show's 2020 finalists during a compilation video filled with the gratitude of members of the general public, celebrities, and keyworkers—the Duchess added her own thanks.
She said, "I'd like, on behalf of everybody who watches Strictly, to say an enormous thank you to everybody who's been involved in this production in this particularly difficult year. You have given everybody so much pleasure and you've uplifted the nation."
Although the latest season is over, excitement is mounting ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special. This year's contestants are a veritable smorgasbord of talent. Jay Blades, Fred Sirieix, Mel Giedroyc, Moira Stuart, Anne-Marie, and Adrian Chiles will take to the dancefloor.
The special will be presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman and the judges choosing who wins the festive trophy this year are Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.
Watch the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special on BBC One, Christmas day at 7.10pm.
