And just like that, we’re nearly at the end of And Just Like That.

And Just Like That has been a hot topic of conversation, rarely out of the headlines or the trending searches on social media, starting before the first episode ever aired.

Before the show premiered, headlines were made about Kim Cattrall’s decision to not return as Samantha Jones. Kim Cattrall threw shade at the ‘trashy’ reboot, which no longer features her iconic character—much to many viewers' dismay.

The tenth and final episode will be released on HBO Max this week, Thursday, February 3, ending a rocky debut season for the Sex and the City reboot.

Once the show launched, the series shocked fans with the surprise death of Carrie’s husband, Mr Big. Big—real name John James Preston—suffered a heart attack after taking a ride on his Peloton, and the episode saw Peloton stock prices plummeting.

The series faced further negative attention headlines following sexual assault allegations against Chris Noth, who played Big.

Sarah Jessica Parker responded to the allegations, releasing a joint statement with Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte).

They wrote, “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it much be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

All of this combined with the disapproval of some fans to storylines including Miranda’s treatment of husband Steve and accusations of trying too hard to be woke could suggest there’s not much of a future for the series.

However, streaming figures are reported to be impressive, the series sparks conversation on social media with every new episode and there are many fans who are desperate for more.

Will there be a season 2 of And Just Like That?

Whether the show will return after the upcoming finale is still unknown, however, fans hopeful to catch more action from Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte could be in luck.

A source reportedly close to the production told Page Six (opens in new tab), “the creative conversations [about a second season] haven’t happened yet, but everyone is feeling good about the show.”

The source elaborated to suggest that the team behind the show “may feel that they want to prove a point that they can make a second season stronger and that it was valid to bring it back for fans.”

Based on the success of the show, it is very likely a second season would be greenlit—it was widely reported by Deadline (opens in new tab) that the debut episode of the series had the biggest launch figures ever for HBO Max.

And Just Like That season 2 cast: who could return?

Fans online have taken to Twitter to speculate as to who they’d like to see come back—and who they wouldn’t.

However, could Kim Cattrall be coaxed back? Producers are hopeful. The Daily Mail, quoting a reported source close to the show, recently stated that producers are banking on a second season—and they have high hopes Kim Cattrall will be back as Samantha.

The source reportedly said, “…By the end of And Just Like That you'll see Carrie extend the olive branch and try and rekindle the friendship [with Samantha]."

“We have high hopes that by the time we begin filming the second season, Kim will have joined the show and Samantha Jones can make a triumphant return to the big apple.”
